The Best Photo Booth Printer

Five machines from three brands, compared on the four numbers that actually decide it. We fit DNP and we say so, but the figures below are the manufacturers’ own and you can check every one of them.

Almost every guide to this question answers it with the printer the author sells. The honest answer is that the right printer depends on one thing: how many photos your busiest event prints, and in what format. Everything else follows from that. A machine that reloads twice a night at a wedding is the wrong machine even if it is cheaper, and a machine that never fills its roll is money sitting in a flight case.

Printer Print Sizes Prints per Roll, 10x15 Seconds per Print Weight Price
DNP DS620 10x15, 13x18, 15x20 400 8.3 s 12 kg €1,191 plus VAT
DNP DS-RX1HS 10x15, 15x20 700 12.4 s 14 kg €817 plus VAT
DNP QW410 10x15 150 19 s 5.9 kg €723 plus VAT
Citizen CY-02 10x15, 15x20 700 12.4 s 13.8 kg On request

DNP DS620

Buy it if you sell more than one print size, or want to. It is the only one here that prints 13x18, and the fastest of the five.

€1,191 plus VAT

DNP DS-RX1HS

Buy it if you sell photo strips or run long events. Highest capacity per roll, and the strip is built in rather than improvised.

€817 plus VAT

DNP QW410

Buy it if you load the van alone. Under 6 kg against 12 to 18 for everything else, at the cost of reloading more often.

€723 plus VAT

Put the Citizen CY-02 and the DNP DS-RX1HS side by side and something becomes obvious that nobody writes down: they are the same machine where it counts. 322 x 351 x 281 mm against 322 x 350 x 281, 13.8 kg against 14, 12.4 seconds both, 700 prints per roll both. Choosing between those two is not a technical decision, it is a decision about which consumable supply chain you want to depend on for the life of the printer. The HiTi P525L is the outlier: capable, but 18 kg and 500 prints per roll put it behind on both of the numbers that hurt at an event.

We fit DNP, and the reason is boring rather than technical: every booth software supports it, genuine media is stocked across Europe, and when something goes wrong at nine on a Saturday the answer exists. That advantage is not visible in a spec table, which is why the table above is not the whole argument.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which photo booth printer prints the most photos per roll?

The DNP DS-RX1HS and the Citizen CY-02, both at 700 prints of 10x15 per roll. The HiTi P525L gives 500, the DNP DS620 400 and the DNP QW410 150. Capacity only matters if your events are long enough to reach it.

What is the fastest photo booth printer?

The DNP DS620 at around 8.3 seconds per 10x15 print, well ahead of the 12.4 to 12.8 seconds of the rest. With a queue in front of the booth that difference compounds over an evening.

Do I need a dye sublimation printer, or will an inkjet do?

Dye sublimation, without hesitation. The print comes out dry, sealed and handleable in seconds, and it survives being passed around a party. An inkjet cannot match the speed or the durability, which is why no working booth uses one.

Can I use one brand’s paper in another brand’s printer?

No. Every dye sublimation printer takes its own media and will not run anything else. That is the part of this decision that lasts: the printer you buy also chooses who supplies your paper for as long as you own it.

Which is the best DNP printer for a photo booth business?

For a business with a weekend calendar, the DS620 if you sell more than one print size and the DS-RX1HS if strips are the product. The QW410 earns its place as a second machine for small jobs. Whichever you pick, price the DNP printer supplies at the same time: paper and ribbon are the recurring cost, the machine is the one off.

What is the best photo booth printer for a wedding?

A wedding is a long event with a queue in bursts, so capacity beats raw speed. The DS-RX1HS covers most weddings on one load at 700 prints, and the DS620 is the better call when the couple has ordered a 5x7 for the guest book. Either way, take one spare box of media to the venue.

How long is the warranty and what does it cover?

Three years. The official warranty covers manufacturing defects, electronic components, the screen and the printer. Technical support is unlimited and for life, with no renewal to pay, and you can reach us through the contact form, by email and on WhatsApp (+34 623 798 041). Financing is also available from €99 a month if you prefer to spread the payment, conditions on request.
