Cost per print is the number that decides whether a booth makes money, and with dye sublimation it is simple arithmetic: the price of a box divided by the prints it yields. A 4x6 box gives 800 prints, a 5x7 box 460 and a 6x8 box 400. That is why a 6x8 print has to carry roughly twice the price of a 4x6 on your rate card, not the same one.
The failure mode nobody plans for is running out mid event, and it always happens on a Saturday. Count the busiest event you have booked, not the average one, and keep one spare box beyond it. Media is dated stock, not perishable, so ordering ahead costs you storage space and nothing else. How many prints does a box of DNP DS620 media give?
800 prints at 4x6, 460 at 5x7 and 400 at 6x8. Every box holds two rolls of paper with their matched ribbons.
Does DS620 media fit the DS620A?
Yes. DS620 and DS620A are the same printer under two market names, so any DS620 media kit fits both. The same media also runs in the SL620 kiosk.
Can I use third party paper in a DNP DS620?
You can load it and you should not. Dye sublimation matches paper to ribbon chemistry, so non original media shows up as colour shift and banding, and it takes the printer warranty with it. We only supply genuine DNP.
Which media do I need for 2x6 photo strips on a DS620?
Standard 4x6 media. The printer cuts the 4x6 print into two strips, so 400 prints per roll becomes 800 strips. There is no separate strip media to buy.
